Dear Friend I hope that you are enjoying your summer and a slightly different pace in your lifestyle. With August knocking at your door, it is time to think about your fall fitness schedule, and the holidays that come quickly at the end of the year. To help you approach this busy and wonderful time of year, I am announcing a NEW 5-week Intuitive Eating Teleclass that Katdance Fitness Coaching will be offering. If you have been waiting to find out more about what Intuitive Eating is, and whether or not it is right for you, NOW is the time to find out. Currently, I am teaching the basic concepts of Intuitive Eating in a 5-week hybrid class at The Women’s Institute at Anne Arundel Community College. The students are attending classes both online and on the phone. It is a convenient, flexible, and non-threatening environment, in which participants explore a non-diet approach to weight management. There are no face-to face meetings- just lecture and dialogue via the telephone. There is no webcam so that all parties involved maintain their privacy. Katdance Fitness Coaching will be offering the next 5-week session to begin in October, and end in time for the Thanksgiving holidays. Still not sure if this is for you? NEW TOOLS for Treating Osteoporosis!! Do you suffer from Osteoporosis? Are you not there yet, and have osteopenia? I have just finished teaching a 3-week course using the OsteoBall, developed by Dr. Swezey, MD, a renowned osteoporosis medical expert and professor. The OsteoBall Kit comes with an inflatable ball, though much different from a Resist-A-Ball in that it is filled only 2/3's full with air. The workout consists of 10 strengthening exercises; 5 each to be performed on alternating days. The workout takes less than 15 minutes, and can easily complement a cardio routine or stretch routine, or stand alone as its own workout. The OsteoBall is easy to store, too, as it can be deflated like a beach ball, and is very lightweight. It is a good tool for persons who may be inbound, and older adults who may not attend exercise classes outside of their home. Dr. Swezey’s research and testing proves that strength can be increased in just 6 weeks, using the OsteoBall correctly. The diagrams and DVD that accompany the OsteoBall are clear and easy to understand. The exercises can be performed in standing or sitting positions; the entire workout can be performed without getting down to the floor.
