Feed your body. Change your life.

April 2007
Issue 3
  personal note from darshana

In the past body image was something I have struggled with.
Oh let's be real…. It still gets me sometimes….I just don't listen to those voices as much anymore.

For many of us we are constantly comparing ourselves to our neighbors, co- workers, friends, magazines and bill boards.

There is NO RIGHT WAY to look! Yet sometimes we feel and think like there is a right way.

Our next Fruition Friday is an opportunity to come together with other women, share our selves and learn useful tools to overcome body image.

Ciao for now,

Love the Skin You're In! Transforming body image
A workshop for women

* Do you ever look in the mirror and wish you saw something different?
* Do you sometimes think a certain foods will make you "fat"?
* Is your exercise routine fun and pleasurable or stressful and draining.

As women, we are conditioned to think that our body needs to look a certain way. We accept societal standards about body image and act accordingly, blaming ourselves, adopting restrictive diets, or intense exercise regimes that often lead to injury.

This workshop is an opportunity to demystify some of these thought patterns.

During our time together we will:

* Explore how to honor the body’s natural rhythms and fluctuations.
* Learn how you can use whole, natural foods to stabilize your body and moods.
* Learn kinder ways of speaking to ourselves.
* Learn to accept and love the bodies we currently live in.
* Learn to discern between realistic health goals and unrealistic expectations.

We will use body awareness exercises, movement, journaling, sharing and writing to explore and go deeper inside.

Workshop given by Fruition Women’s Health Counselor Darshana Weill

A bit about Darshana:

"I've struggled with my own health.
As a teenage actress obsessed with my weight, I would eat nothing but grapefruits, melba toast, and canned tuna for days. And then suddenly Id find myself binging on entire boxes of Quaker Oat Squares, Skippy peanut butter from the jar, full bags of pretzels and boxes of Mike and Ikes candy. By age 25, my health began to weaken…" Read more about Darshana at http://www.fruitionhealth.com/counselors_darshana.html
