ADVANCED COOKING CLASS SERIES
OK hold on tight… this is what some of you have been waiting for.
Classes that focus on specific health concerns, cooking styles, ethic classes and more!
Eating with the Seasons- Winter- 1/31/08
We’ll create a delicious feast of local, seasonal, organic foods that are nourishing and satisfying during the winter season. Highlighted foods include: sweet root vegetables, buckwheat, adzuki beans, and sea vegetables. We’ll also explore cooking styles that will keep you warm and cozy during the cold and wet winter weather.
Raw Chocolate - 2/28/08
You’ll learn all about the amazing health benefits of the sacred cacao plant. You’ll see a demonstration of how to make a raw chocolate bar, and then each person will get a chance to make your own. Plus, we’ll make a mouth watering raw chocolate sauce- the perfect topping for a raw ice cream sundae!
Fermented Foods - 3/27/08
We’ll discuss the definition and benefits of fermented foods. You’ll learn to make easy, classic fermented foods including sauerkraut, dill pickles, pickled ginger and kombucha. Plus, we’ll make and eat a fermentation friendly dinner using tempeh and miso- and we’ll do some taste testing!
Gotta Get Your Greens!- 4/24/08
In this ALL GREENS class, we’ll explore many varieties of dark leafy greens. We’ll discuss the health benefits, and we’ll practice preparing them in a variety of ways including steaming, blanching, sautéing, roasting, and baking. In addition we’ll whip up a few delectable sauces, and some other accompaniments to enhance the delicious flavors of the greens themselves.
My Favorite Healthy Indian Dishes-5/22/08
In this class we will take ideas from some classic Indian dishes, and create them in a simple, delicious, whole foods way. we will create a feast including: Curried Greens with Yogurt, Sweet Channa Dal, Tandoori Chicken, Saffron Rice with Raisins and Cashews, Cucumber Raita, Mixed Fruit Chutney, and Coconut Kheer for dessert.
Sushi Love-6/19/08
This class is purely dedicated to the joys of making sushi rolls. You’ll learn to make seasoned, brown, sushi rice. We’ll create a medley of delicious sushi fillings including all of your favorite fruits and veggies, shitake mushrooms, marinated kale, and seaweed salad. Then you’ll learn the ultimate sushi rolling methods, and create your own rolls. We’ll finish by sitting together to enjoy a delicious sushi feast, complete with miso soup.

Class costs vary depending on if you are a FWH client or the general public. The range is from $85 for a single class and as low as $59 per class if you take a series.
